Meet Dr. Max
Maxim Chumak, MD, ABFM, ABHRS Diplomate, FISHRS, is the founder and Medical Director of Hair By Dr. Max Restoration Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His clinical practice has focused on hair restoration since 2016.
In addition to his clinical work, he serves as Program Chair of the 34th ISHRS World Congress, scheduled for October 15–17, 2026, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Dr. Chumak worked as a registered nurse before earning his medical degree from the American University of Antigua in 2008. He completed a General Surgery internship at Michigan State University in 2009, followed by a Family Medicine residency at Wayne State University in 2012.
A Physician-Performed Surgical Model
Dr. Chumak founded Hair By Dr. Max in 2016. The practice schedules one surgical patient per day, and he personally performs harvesting and implantation. Treatment planning emphasizes natural hairline design, careful donor use and the patient’s long-term hair-loss pattern.
Clinical Focus
His practice includes FUE hair transplantation, complex transplant repair, donor preservation, No-Shave and Long-Hair FUE, female hair transplantation, and care for patients with Afro-textured and tightly curled hair.
Options also include robotic hair restoration and selected adjunctive treatments such as growth-factor therapies and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, according to the individual treatment plan. Surgical candidacy, limitations and realistic expectations are discussed before treatment.
Education, Research and Professional Service
Dr. Chumak participates in physician education and research involving hair-restoration technology, including robotic harvesting and implantation. Hair By Dr. Max serves as a physician training site for robotic hair restoration.
His educational interests include physician-performed FUE, donor preservation, corrective transplantation, direct implantation, and the selected use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. His current ISHRS service includes leadership of the 2026 World Congress scientific program.

Dr. Chumak served approximately 14 years as a physician in the United States Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Major. This service history is also noted in his ABHRS profile.
